How much does a new garage door cost?

A fitted up and over door typically starts around £550 for a single garage, while insulated electric sectional and roller doors run into the low thousands. Our guide-price tool gives a range in under a minute, and the surveyor confirms a fixed price.

Which garage door type is best for me?

Sectional doors suit drives where you park close to the door. Roller doors keep the ceiling free. Up and over doors are the most affordable. Side hinged doors let you walk in without opening the whole door.

Do you offer a free survey?

Yes. A surveyor measures the opening, headroom, side room and garage depth, then confirms your fixed price in writing.

Do you remove my old garage door?

Yes. Removal and disposal of your old door and frame is included in every fitted price.

Do you repair garage doors as well as fit them?

Yes. Engineers repair springs, cables, motors, locks and doors that have come off their tracks.

Which areas do you cover?

We cover England, Wales and much of Scotland through installation teams working for us.

How much drive space does an up and over door need?

A canopy door swings out by around a third of its height as it opens, so a car parked tight to the door will block it. Retractable doors swing out less. We measure this at survey.

Does a sectional door need space in front?

No. It rises vertically, so you can park up to the door and it will still open.

Are roller doors always electric?

Most are, because a wide curtain is heavy to lift. Smaller single doors can be supplied manual with a spring-assisted barrel.

Do side hinged doors open inwards?

They are normally hung to open outwards so they don't take up garage space. Inward-opening leaves are possible on deep garages.

Is an insulated garage door worth it?

If the garage is integral, heated or used as a room, yes. For a detached garage used only for a car, the difference is smaller.

Which door type works best electrically?

Sectional and roller doors run most smoothly under a motor. Up and over and side hinged doors can be automated too.

Can any garage door be motorised?

Most can, if the door is in good condition and balanced. A door that is stiff or has worn springs needs repair first, or the motor will fail early.

Is it worth repairing an old garage door?

If the door is structurally sound and parts are available, a repair is usually cheaper. If the panel is rotten, rusted through or unobtainable, we'll show you the replacement cost next to the repair cost.
