What are insulated garage doors?

An insulated garage door uses foam-filled panels or laths and a continuous seal around the frame and floor to cut heat loss and draughts. It matters most on integral garages that share a wall with the house, and on garages converted into gyms, workshops or utility space.

How much do insulated garage doors cost?

Our guide price is £1,600–£3,900 including VAT. Where a door is fitted, that includes removing and disposing of the old door. The final price depends on size, finish, whether you want it electric or insulated, and the condition of the opening, and is fixed in writing after survey.

Questions about insulated garage doors

Is an insulated garage door worth it?

If the garage is integral, heated or used as a room, yes. For a detached garage used only for a car, the difference is smaller.

How is insulation performance shown?

Manufacturers publish U-values for each door type. We give you the manufacturer's figure for the door we quote rather than a general claim.

Will an insulated door reduce noise?

Foam-filled panels are quieter to operate and dampen outside noise compared with single-skin steel.
